Apparently at the last FA Cup in KL the stadium was almost completely empty.
My questions are:
1) Was it not well publicised?
2) Why were there no pre-match events like concerts organised to generate interest?
3) Was there a reason why it was held in KL? Perhaps having it at a smaller neutral venue like the Ipoh Stadium would have generated a bigger crowd.
How totally embarrassing. An FA Cup final and nobody wants to come and watch. What a far cry from the days at Merdeka Stadium....

http://www.globalmalaysians.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=696&PN=1 - self explanatory...same problem, same approach, same thing...monotonous, stereotype, 2D thinking...
But I'm still curious to see MyTeam performs...will it become like the legendary 'Harimau Malaysia' (trained by Kevin Keegan)..will we still get good players like Hashim Mustapha? Or will it suffer the same fate as 'Harimau Malaysia'...such a good team but was SHUTDOWN for unknown reasons!

It gets disheartening after a while when you keep watching Malaysia come close then lose. And this has happened too often.
How do we get another generation of footballers like Soh Chin Aun, Mokhtar Dahari and Santokh Singh?
But we also have to keep in mind that football today is not the same as the football of the 70s. It is a faster and harder game today.
Our footballers cannot ever again get by on skill alone. Skill helps, but the game now requires the highest fitness levels and greater strength.
Can you imagine our boys playing against Brazil? Look at their physique - big, solid, strong and they are fast too.
We have to change our skinny kampung boys into that and at the same time from small, train them so that they have the discipline and learn the skills required.
Ronaldinho didn't become Ronaldinho overnight. I bet you he trained and he played daily as a kid.

Before Japan, South Korea made such impact to the world cup, a bunch of us always got the opinion that the body built got something to do with why Asian failed. I mean just look at their height and our height...
Then later Japan and South Korea sucess came in... All of our opinion no longer valid.
Our local football league do not draw much fans. All of us know the skill is not worthwhile for us to pay to see the show. I think what need to be done is to increase interest in our local football leagues. This can be done by increasing the quota of foreign players. I remember during the semi pro era, the fans are lurking to see the foreign player because that is the very first time we see one. Once the interest increased, it will become an industry by itself, and talent will grow with more funds pump into the game. I maybe a little over if I say if David Beckham were to play for Selangor, I think the stadium will be packed when Selangor is playing. Of course, we do not have that kind of fund to get him.
Naturally, with the interest of games is here, better coach, better facility will follow to groom local talent. I wonder how much budget we had for this sport...

It would be nice if our national team can qualify for the world cup one day. What is actually wrong with our national team?
Teams such as Japan, China, South Korea, Cameroon, Nigeria etc. keep on improving but our national team is heading downward. What do you think needs to be done?
