AL-FATIHAH
Salam to all my global cyber friends. Please dedicate Al-Fatihah to my late Uncle Nik Hassan Thani, a national veteran academician - passed away a few days ago.

Jaws star Roy Scheider dies aged 75
February 11, 2008 12:24pm
ROY Scheider, the actor best known for his role as a police chief in the blockbuster movie Jaws has died at age 75.
A longtime Long Island resident , the actor died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said. The hospital did not release his cause of death.
However, hospital spokeswoman Leslie Taylor said Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years.
Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss starred in the 1975 movie, "Jaws," which was widely hailed as the film that launched the era of the Hollywood blockbuster. It was the first film to earn $100 million at the box office.
In 2005, one of Scheider's most famous lines in the movie—"You're gonna need a bigger boat"—was voted No. 35 on the American Film Institute's list of best quotes from U.S. movies.
That year, some 30 years after "Jaws" premiered, hundreds of movie buffs flocked to Martha's Vineyard, off the southeastern coast of Massachusetts, to celebrate the great white shark that terrified millions of moviegoers.
The island's JawsFest '05 also brought back some of the cast and crew, including screenwriter Carl Gottlieb and Peter Benchley, who wrote the novel that inspired Steven Spielberg's enduring classic.
Spielberg, Scheider, who played a police chief, and Dreyfuss, who played an oceanographer, were absent from Jawsfest '05. Co-star Robert Shaw, who played Quint, died in 1978.
Scheider also participated in rallies protesting U.S. military action in Iraq, including a massive New York demonstration in March 2003 that police said drew 125,000 chanting activists.
Scheider had a home built for him and his family in 1994 in Sagaponack, where he was active in community issues. The oceanfront house, set on an acre of land, featured four fireplaces and various decks and porches.

Watch the breaking news re. her assassination last nite. Kind of sad. I still remember her as someone we girls around that era wanted to be. A female muslim prime minister. Not that easy.
On a lighter side if I'm not mistaken, during that time too, she makes the salwar kameez, the pantsuit that she always wore famous in Msia. Everyone wants one for hari raya.
Al-fatihah to her. |

Yes, sometimes fanaticms can go too far. The only thing that hurts me a lot is that they don't even care to bother if that was a woman that they're murdering.
Sometimes even for small things such as :
a) First, it started with a gender issue but the matter became uncontrollable, small sparks turn to fire that breaks here and there (with the help of gasoline) and finally got blown out of proportion and the only way to 'eliminate the issue' is to find someone to blame and start to 'eliminate the person'.
b) First, it started with a small group that didn't like one particular person but the group went too far by assasinating 'that somebody' to uphold their 'non-substantiated' views.
c) First, it started with only ONE person who doesn't like another person because of the things the person said - later the other person take the views too seriously and ended up with killing.
No wonder wonderful leaders like Gandhi and Lincoln got murdered for what they were upholding despite majority agrees till now that what both were doing were for 'good causes'.
But to what end? To what benefit? Only making the situation much more serious or aggravate matters further.
They started looking ALL the Gandhis and started to assasinate again despite many finally agreed that Mahatma is classified under GOOD PEOPLE! (The Gandhis are not even Gandhis - they're Nehrus)
Thus, assassination now becomes a 'sick culture' which doesn't make any sense!
All 3 elements above are about 'instable mentality' - not about politics and not even close to religion or race.
It's only about basic 'emotions'. Funny how a small basic emotion is capable of when improperly controlled/guided. Funny how much destruction can be caused by one small thing - emotion.
But I wonder if we EVER reach the 'civilized stage' when we can't even control our own basic desires?
