Yes, it's getting hotter by the day. Bring lots of suntan lotion.

Hi, I am planning to visit malaysia in 1st week of March for my honeymoon. We would be staying in Langkawi, Genting and Kuala Lampur for 2 days each.

I would like to know the climate in these cities and also what kind of clothes and other stuff should we carry?

In addition to light summer clothing, it's advisable to carry mosquito repellant due to the current dengue alert (click to read). You will also want to carry sunblock for your Langkawi trip if you intend to spend time at the beach and sea.

The people in Malaysia are generally law abiding but as in any other country, there are some rascals with criminal intent and snatch theft is a growing problem. So be careful with your handbag and be wary of snatch thieves operating on speeding motorcycles.

Hope you have a great honeymoon in Malaysia.

cheers

Jason,

Don't worry about what Whitenite said regarding KL. Yes, it's smog-filled but it's not as bad as say, Beijing. Traffic-gridlock during peak hours - yes.

But it's certainly not faceless.

KL is an interesting city. A mix of old and new. Vibrant. Big shopping malls. Small quaint shops. Colourful.

And LOTS of great, delicious food. From myriads of cuisine.

We wear summer clothing all year round. A light jumper might be necessary for Genting.

Enjoy your honeymoon in our beautiful homeland.

Hi Jason

Welcome! 1st query we have on this forum for a visitor to Msia!

Funny, how come you've got Johor as your "Location", I'm sure there isn't a city with an identical name to our southermost state in Canada!

The "climate" in M'sia is the same year round. Only changes are the rainy season, "monsoons". So we're talking low 20s at nite, and up to mid-30s daytime. It gets a li'll hotter during Jan & Feb, max of perhaps 36degs Celcius. But the high humidity, around 80%, moderates the temps a fair bit, so youwon't feel that hot, but conversely it never really cools down much either! You'll just feel the need to shower 3 times a day! And not leave yr air-conditioned room!!

Googled and came up with these sites on weather:

http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/159/climate/South-East-Asia/Malaysia.html

http://www.malaysiatravel.org.uk/climate.html

EDIT: Forgot to add - Genting is a bit cooler as it is located on higher terrain. Langkawi - beaches are great, food prices are a bit of a rip-off by local standards, but prolly won't make a diiference for someone spending CND$$ ...

KL, ummm, (spent 11-12 yrs there), smog-filled, traffic-gridlocked, faceless City...

Enjoy yr stay!!
